We lead deeply reported public interest investigations that cross borders and blend traditional approaches like freedom of information with emerging practices from data science to visual forensics.
We create collaborative spaces where content creators, hyper-local outlets and freelance journalists can work alongside staff from globally-recognised media. We pay particular attention to fresh ways of framing complex issues that will capture public attention and challenge dominant framings.
Lighthouse Reports is a nonprofit organisation registered in the Netherlands with ANBI (Public Benefit Organisation) status. Editorial Independence is essential to all aspects of the work we do. We work with donors who do not impose conditions that restrict our journalism. Our funding currently comes from private foundations (89%) and other income (11%).
Detailed spending summaries are available in our annual reports. Our audited financial statements provide a third-party reviewed account of income, expenses, assets and liabilities. The salaries of our five highest paid employees range from €69,000 to €108,000 per year.
Lighthouse is built on the trust and support of our partners, funders and the network of committed freelance and staff journalists who have made our newsrooms part of their most ambitious work. We are incredibly grateful for everything you do to promote and sustain our work.
Major Donors
Lighthouse Reports has strict editorial independence and we are grateful to the funders, partners and supporters who enable us to stay this way.
